Andrew and Nicole Slattery

When we were planning to extend our home at Braidwood, we knew we wanted to take full advantage of our location. The property had been in the family for 5 generations however the home had never been constructed with the overall environment in mind.

Our first step in finding a builder was like many prospective renovators was to seek out quotes from builders in the local area. Out of the builders approached Green Homes was more than competitive.

On first speaking with Dan and Troy about ideas , in particular making the best of the northerly sun and sweeping views, we found they were more than able to articulate these ideas into a more substantive plan. This understanding of making the most of the renovation continued throughout the building process.

As with many renovations our own desires in respect to finishes and details changed along the way. Dan and Troy embraced these variations and made them work into the build. Of note was the late decision to install a window splash back into the kitchen. This meant structural changes which our builders took on with enthusiasm and created exactly what we envisioned.

Being away in Sydney for the majority of the building meant we had to trust our builders to do things as we had discussed. In these circumstances we found Dan and Troy to be professional in delivering a quality product and extremely able to communicate what was happening on site through their much appreciated phone conversations .

The finished home is what we imagined but more. It’s light and spacious, with family , dining and kitchen areas all featuring energy efficient windows capturing the northerly sun and wonderful 240 degree views.

Local knowledge (relating to the climate extremes) , environmental design combined with sound building skills makes Dan and Troy pretty well the best builders we could have gone with. We would recommend them to anyone thinking of building in the Braidwood region. We would use them again.
